Kids love to keep cool at the Frog Pond at the Boston Common. Splash around in the giant wading pool a stay cool in the fun fountains.

In the summertime the Frog Pond features a 70 foot spray plume and a wading pool for youngsters.

The spray plume and concession are open daily from 11:00am - 6:00pm from July through Labor Day. Lockers are available for $1.

Right across the path, Tadpole Playground's swings, slides and climbing apparatus are an equally fun way to spend a summer afternoon.

The Frog Pond is located on the Boston Common, off the Park Street stop on the Red or Green line.

The multi-purpose pond also serves as an outdoor ice skating rink in the winter. It boasts full facilities, with skate rentals, lockers, and a warm kiosk with a snack bar.

unpleasant summer day

I second the feedback below about rude staff yelling kids, adults not being allowed to carry kids, etc. Overall, awful and very unpleasant place.

HATE IT

Staff is rude and keep 'yelling' at little ones not to run. Kids can't take any sort of toys, Adults can't carry children, STAFF will yell at children in case they get too close to the fountain.. the pool is only 1feet deep. Not so much fun for toddlers (1 year +) I had a really awful experience

Wonderful

We just happened upon this as we were strolling around the Common with the kids. Had heard about it - but had no idea it would be so much fun! There is, of course, the actual wading pool and fountain - huge! So there is plenty of room to romp around - and perfect for kids. Parents can even bring the camera in there to catch some fun water action. There is also a terrific playground for bigger kids right there, as well as a super playground for the younger set right next door - complete with spray fountains that bubble up from the ground. Next time, we will bring a picnic, a blanket and some towels and make a day of it. Lots and lots of fun.
