- My family loved this trip! We chose the 10 mile one-day trip with our 3 and 6 year old daughters. We packed a cooler of food and would pull over at any spot to swim in the slow moving water, or we'd hop out of the canoe and swim along side it or let it pull us (we wore life preservers to do this). Bring along your snorkel and mask to see fish! The water was about 73 in August, so not bad. My arms were tired at the end of the trip, but by taking this route we were able to play at a famous rock that is fun to jump off of. The scenery was beautiful and we were practically the only ones on the river, during the week.
