Located along scenic Route 2 between the Freedom Trail and the Mohawk Trail, the Johnny Appleseed Trail of North Central Massachusetts offers a charming New England flavor and a wide range of beautiful foliage, unique getaways, and fall fairs and festivals close to Boston, Worcester, and Providence! And, yes, John Chapman, aka Johnny Appleseed, was born here, in Leominster, on September 26, 1774!

The Johnny Appleseed Visitor Center is the gateway to the trail and is located on the westbound side of Route 2 in Lancaster, MA approximately 45 minutes west of Boston. The 2,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility provides rest stop amenities such as rest rooms, vending machines, pay phones, an ATM machine and a touchscreen information kiosk.
Please visit our gift shop where you can purchase locally made products as well as homemade baked goods and coffee to go! Information guides and brochures on regional attractions, businesses and services are also available.
Our professionally trained staff and volunteers are on hand to welcome the traveling public to the center year-round, seven days-a-week, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Hours may vary depending on the season.
