Higgins Armory Museum CLOSED
After 83 years, Higgins Armory Museum officially closed its doors on December 31, 2013.
Fortunately, the museum's core collection will live on as it's being integrated into the Worcester Art Museum (WAM) just a few miles away.
In January 2014, the Higgins Armory Museum transferred its unique collection of arms and armor to the Worcester Art Museum. Widely regarded as one of the three most significant arms and armor collections in the Americas; the transfer, which will allow the collection to remain on display in Worcester.
On Friday, March 28, 2014 WAM will open a NEW exhibition, entitled Knights!, combining works from its collection with those from the newly integrated Higgins Collection.
To welcome the Collection, WAM will host a series of events in conjunction with the opening of the new exhibition. Explore Knights! to learn more about the events and the exhibition.
The Higgins Armory Museum, with 5,000 objects on 4 floors, was the only institution in the Northeast dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition, and interpretation of arms and armor.
You can see many of these treasures now at the Worcester Arts Museum.
