This almost entirely hands-on museum features a huge, climbable sea wall, a period surf boat that was used for rescues and a children's play loft that holds a play schooner, period clothes for dress-up and an observation tower with a breath-taking view of Boston Harbor.
Schooners and nor'easters, shipwrecks, and rescues! The maritime history of Boston Harbor abounds at the historic 1889 Point Allerton U.S. Lifesaving Station with engaging exhibits, a hands-on children's loft, and spectacular view of Boston Light from our observation cupola.
Housed in the original 1889 headquarters of the U.S. Lifesaving Corps, a precursor of the U.S. Coast Guard.
