We teach programming much the same way colleges do - by using Python to develop conceptual and technical skills that are easily transferable to other programming languages.
Eight of the top 10 computer science departments in the U.S. (including MIT) now use Python rather than Java or C++ to teach basic computer programming.
Our courses are taught by Boston area computer science majors and grad students, with teaching assistance provided by Belmont High School students.
CODEMAKERS™ is staffed at all times by programmer-instructors ready to answer coding questions, lead games, challenges and special events, and supervise social activities.
CODEMAKERS™ monthly membership includes all course materials, team projects, gaming events, drop-in hours, and social gatherings.
Our week-long Summer Camp (morning or afternoon) covers the full Intro to Python course:
Level I - Strings / Variables / Loops / Conditional Statements
Level II - Random Functions / List Comprehensions
Level III - Standard Library Functions / Building Functions
Level IV - Objects and Classes / Selection Sort / Binary Search
Coders also practice their skills working on familiar games and new challenges:
Level II - Scrabble Scores, Basic Combat, Dragon
Level III - Bird Bingo, Plinko, Yahtzee, Monte Carlo Simulation
Level IV - Adventure Game, Racing Simulator, Population Simulator
