Kids’ Kick at Boston Sanda Kickboxing offers children, teens, and parents the chance to develop their ability to focus, foster self-confidence, and build self-esteem, as well as to improve their level of physical fitness and strength. Kids’ Kick at Boston Sanda Kung Fu is run by Marvin Perry, Tara Gully-Hightower and Daniel Alexis, educators and experienced martial artists who have been teaching children and adults for over 10 years.
Children’s Classes: (4-9 years old) The goal of our Kids’ Kick program is for children to have fun while they are learning a valuable martial art and reaping the benefits of exercise. Students in our program learn to focus mentally and gain confidence in their physical abilities and strength. Our Kids’ Kick curriculum was designed with the developmental needs of children ages 4-9 years old in mind.
We understand that children learn best in a safe and stimulating environment. Through games and activities kids learn the basics of Sanda Kung Fu— basic punching, kicking, traditional kung fu exercises, as well as and rolling and falling techniques. Sanda training on all levels emphasizes focus, effort, self-discipline, achievement, and growth. Our Kids’ Kick program helps students develop respect for themselves and others on both a physical and
psychological level.
Students are encouraged to learn at their own rate, but testing is required for advancement to assure safety and that proper training skills are learned with consistent attendance. (A one-time registration fee of $80 is required which includes a processing fee, school uniform and leather safety gloves. Safety always comes first!)
Teens' Classes: (10-16 years old) The Junior Kickboxing program at Boston Sanda kickboxing Fu offers young people the chance to develop self-esteem, self-discipline, confidence, physical fitness and coordination. At this level, we focus on helping students develop not only their kickboxing techniques, but also their character and work ethic. Through training, students will learn respect for others and for themselves, gained through hard work and discipline.
They will also learn how to work as a team with other students as well as how to set and achieve goals. Sanda (Chinese Kickboxing) at the junior level is geared toward knowledge, technique, defensive and offensive skills. The first level begins with basic punching, kicking, break-falls, and takedown techniques. Testing is required for advancement to assure that proper training skills are learned with consistent attendance. Very light contact is required to apply proper technique and application in the upper levels.
As students advance, training and sparring is geared toward competition. ((A one-time registration fee of $80 is required which includes a processing fee, school uniform and
leather safety gloves. Safety always comes first!)
Parents and Adult Classes: Families welcome! Kickboxing is not just for kids, kickboxing training is for any individual who would like to get in excellent shape and learn practical self-defense skills. At BSK we have a full adult kickboxing program led by professional kickboxers and former members of the US Sanda kickboxing team.
