Summer Day Programs:
Powers Music School offers several summer day programs each year, as well as private lessons, ensembles, and early childhood classes.
Pow-Wow is a two-week day program for students ages 5 - 11 (students must be entering kindergarten by Sept 2015), and a CIT program (Counselor-in-Training) for ages 12-15. Now in its 22nd year, the Pow-Wow program is an innovative, hands-on introduction to violin, piano, music and movement, acting, group singing, and arts and crafts. This program is a unique opportunity for young children to experience total immersion in a musical environment. At the end of each session, the children perform an operetta adapted for Pow-Wow by the faculty.
Music on the Hill (MOTH) is a four-week or two-week program that balances study and performance of chamber, jazz, and orchestral music with supervised recreational activities and a choice of music and arts electives for students ages 9 - 14, and a counselor in training program for students ages 15 - 19. MOTH students play and perform in two chamber ensembles, weekly solo recitals, and the MOTH orchestra. They also have access to private lessons in their instrument or composition taught by excellent faculty. CIT students assist with activities throughout the day, and have daily rehearsal and coaching time with the CIT ensembles.
The MOTH program is designed for motivated intermediate to advanced instrumentalists who are eager to have fun making music with others, and encourages harmony between the artistic disciplines, shared experience, and achievement among musicians. MOTH faculty members are well-known for their experience and success with young people at this formative and decisive stage of musical development. Participants come away with a heightened musical awareness, new friendships, and an enthusiastic interest in being part of future jazz and chamber music ensembles.

Good music class
We get to know this wonderful school by attending their storytelling concert at library. I'm impressed by the professional performance, so I register my kid for the Music pups class. Both of us love this class a lot. The teacher Jennifer is awesome. She's very passionate and knows how to engage everyone in the class. Both of my kid and I enjoyed sing and dance with her in the class. It helped us build a good memory that will last a long time. And I also learned some music that I could sing to my child in the future. I highly recommend this class to anyone that have babies / toddlers.Great Music Pups Program
My daughter enjoys Music Pups program with her older sister a lot. We played musics from class material (CD) at home almost everyday so our kids engaged in the class so nicely and joyfully. Highly recommended this class for infants and toddlers.Highly recommended
My 2 and half yo daughter loves Music Pups program and keeps listening to, humming, and singing the songs she learned from this class. It is amazing to see my kid growing her music sense with Powers. Highly recommended.High Five Piano class
My 5 year old boy signed up the high five piano class this fall semester and he really loves the class. The teacher is very friendly and patient, and the class is a good intro of music and piano to kids. In addition, School offers study materials and no need to purchase textbook yourself. Great starting point for children's music life!Fun Mixed-Age Class
All 4 of my children have enjoyed the Music Pups classes. The older ones still sing the songs years later. I've appreciated the mixed-age class so that I can take them all to one class.Powers had the power
Yes, I have to admit, Powers Music School changed my child, King Louis II (name changed for identity protection) for the better. I drop him off every Wednesday at 5:30 PM at the school, and he goes to his group lesson, my little angel. I have been to some of his group lessons where Queen Elizabeth (name changed for identity protection) teaches them with an 'every green bear digs flowers book'. She gives my angel Christmas songs to play at our annual Christmas festival. When my angel plays now it is like the heavens are shining down on him. That's all for now!RELATED LINKS | ↑ top |
