Urbanity is a nonprofit dance company and school bringing innovative contemporary dance to Boston. Awarded Best of Boston 2015, the professional company produces stunning performances that challenge contemporary dance and has been invited to perform across the Country.Our school offers classes for youth starting at 6 months as well as adult programs in contemporary dance, hip hop, tap, and acrobatics.
Our Students explore artistic expression and creativity through technique and choreography, starting from beginner and progressing through open drop in courses for advanced dancers throughout Boston. Our staff provides a supportive environment to nurture young dancers of all backgrounds and abilities.
Urbanity Dance is an active member of the South end and Boston communities, offering a variety of programs to engage the public. These programs range from dance classes in Boston Public Schools and scholarship programs to a free weekly dance for those with Parkinson’s.
In addition, Urbanity Dance produces the Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, bringing a diverse array of contemporary dance artists together from across the country to explore contemporary dance as a site of social change and progress.
Throughout all of its programs, Urbanity dance strives to bring innovative work and comprehensive learning opportunities to the Boston community.
