Have you ever wondered why some of the animals at the Franklin Park Zoo have balls, spinner toys and other items in their exhibits? This is called enrichment and it is an important part of caring for the animals at the Zoo.

Enrichment excites all the animals’ senses and can be offered by zookeepers in a variety of different ways such as novelty foods, sounds, smells, boxes, bags, and toys.

Environmental enrichment encourages animals to use their natural abilities and behaviors to interact with their environment.

Schedule of Events

10:30 AM: Wish Okie and Gigi “Happy Birthday” as the gorillas celebrate their 18thand 39th birthdays in the Tropical Forest. The exhibit will be festively decorated and the gorillas will enjoy special treats.
