frog appreciation day at boston common frog pond photoThe Boston Common Frog Pond is partnering with Zoo New England ‘s Franklin Park Zoo on August 20 for the first annual Frog Appreciation Day, a free, entertaining family-friendly event aimed at educating young people about frogs here and around the world, and the importance of protecting animal habitats.

There will be face painting, arts and crafts tables where children can make beanbag frogs, a frog release of dozens of toy frogs into the Spray Pool, and giveaways of free children’s tickets to Zoo New England’s Franklin Park Zoo.

Zoo New England’s Education Department, members of the national Frogwatch initiative, will conduct an interactive question and answer session all about frogs.

The Spray Pool at the Frog Pond will be open as usual, and folks can have lunch at the Frog Pond Cafe if they wish.

The Boston Common Frog Pond is managed through a public-private partnership between The Skating Club of Boston and the Boston Parks Department.
