Garden of Wonders
Children and adults alike will delight in creative play designed to engage the senses and kick off the season of adventure with an opportunity to cultivate newfound joy in the natural world.
Using only what is provided in the garden and adjoining wooded grove, games and activities will include:
•Scavenger hunt
•Puppet show
•Creation of a colorful garden mandala
•Garden harvest that will feed some of the Zoo animals
All activities are designed for parent accompaniment and are most well-suited for children ages 5-10.
Older and younger are welcome.
The event will be led by Matt Bibeau, MSEd, Director of the Institute of Permaculture Education for Children of Portland, OR.
Matt, a Massachusetts native, has been teaching nature awareness and garden education for over a decade and is a lead instructor and farm manager at Jean's Urban Forest Farm in Portland, OR.
Drawing on his experiences working with both the National Park Service and National Forest Service, Matt's passion for discovering the wonders of nature in the city has become his life's work.
