Woodcock Walk
Because of its solitary habits and superb camouflage, the American Woodcock is nearly impossible to see, except during its breeding displays.
These little birds are full of surprises.
Would you expect to find a shorebird at the edge of a forest?
How many other birds can sing with their wings?
And are there any other animals with eyes almost in the back of their heads?
You have to be truly strange to earn the nickname of “timberdoodle” or “bog sucker.” (Fowl weather date for this program is Saturday, April 6th.)
