Guests will have the opportunity to sign a giant birthday card for Little Joe and enjoy a complimentary cupcake from White’s Bakery, available first come, first served. This event is included with general Zoo admission.
In honor of Little Joe’s birthday, help gorillas by recycling your old phone or tablet. Franklin Park Zoo has teamed up with Eco-Cell, a company that partners with zoos across the country, to collect your recycled cell phones and refurbish them for reuse. The Eco-Cell collection box is conveniently located in front of the gorilla habitat inside the Tropical Forest. Learn more about what you can donate here.
Event Schedule:
10:00 a.m. – Gorillas can be seen in the indoor habitat (watch them discover the birthday enrichment and treats)
10:30 a.m. – Gorilla Chat
11:30 a.m. – Music Performance
12:30 p.m. – Big Joe the Storyteller, Hippo Theater
2:00 p.m. – Gorilla Chat
The indoor gorilla exhibit at Franklin Park Zoo will be festively decorated and the gorillas will enjoy treats made especially for them.
After you’ve had your fill of cake, be sure to explore the rest of the Tropical Forest, where there will be special zookeeper encounters and crafts for February school vacation week, as we celebrate the weird, wacky and wonderful world of nature.
