Feed the Gecko
Arthur and Artemis are four-foot long, very colorful papier mache lizards that have been made into gecko banks. Visitors to Cambridge Savings Bank and Artbeat in East Arlington can “feed” the geckos with pocket change and dollar bills to be donated to Arlington Public Art (APA), which is currently raising funds for a mural at Spy Pond
Find the Gecko
Eleven businesses throughout Arlington are hosting and hiding tiny Art Geckos. A player who spots a hidden gecko will collect a gecko game card. When players have five different game cards they can turn them in to Artbeat Creativity Store and Studio to receive a free wooden gecko to decorate. Participants who collect all twelve game cards will also be entered in a drawing for prizes.
Make a Gecko
Players are encouraged to turn their wooden geckos into works of art and enter them in a Gecko Art contest. Entries will be displayed at Artbeat through September, and will also be exhibited at Town Day. Prizes will be awarded based on design, originality, and imaginative use of materials.
Tiny geckos are hiding at Anderson’s Florist, Artful Heart Gallery, Artwear, Capitol Creamery, Clay Dreams, Kidcasso Art Studio, Little Fox Shop, Marbella Kitchen & Bath, Maxima Gifts, Mosaic Oasis, and 13FOREST Gallery.
Matching funds are being provided by Quebrada Baking Company, Artful Heart Gallery, Marbella Kitchen and Bath, Maxima Gifts, and Edith Moricz of BeyondSuccessOnline.com
