'Folk art is, indeed, the oldest of all the aristocracies of thought, and because it refuses what is passing and trivial, the merely clever and pretty, as certainly as the vulgar and insincere, and because it has gathered itself into the simplest and most unforgettable thoughts of the generations, it is the soil where all great art is rooted.'

Mythologies
Folk art draws its power from its directness, honesty and ingenuity.
This exhibition brings together six contemporary American makers whose work has variously been described as folk art, outsider art, or visionary art.
Half of this talented group includes individuals with no formal art training and half hold graduate degrees in the field of art.
What binds them is that they are compelled to use their hands, hearts and minds to make work of great spirit and visceral interest.
Exhibiting artists include:
Wesley Anderegg
Harvey Peterson
Thomas Ridlon
Richard Rockford
Tod Smith
Jessica Straus
