Elegance graces the Cultural Center gallery at 6 Wonson Street, Gloucester as the Cape Ann Ceramics Festival, 2014 presents the exhibition “CONTEMPLATION: Fine Ceramics from Cape Ann and Beyond,” August 7-September 1.
Featuring the work of Hideaki Miyamura (Pucker Gallery, Boston), Ani Kasten (Lacoste Gallery, Concord, MA), Jennifer McCurdy, Thomas Hoadley, Jeremy Randall, Hayne Bayless plus works by local and regional talent, the public is invited to a gala opening celebration on Saturday, August 9, 4-6 PM.
Gallery hours are Thursday-Sunday, 12-6 PM.
“THE ART OF THE POSSIBLE: All Clay Inclusive,” returns to the Cultural Center this year with new, established and emerging artists and many new treasures for sale.
The show opens Friday, August 29, from 5-8 PM with food, music and a few wonderful surprises, and continues Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31 from 10 AM-6 PM.
An Outdoor Sculpture Show will take place at two venues, Flatrocks Gallery, 77 Langsford Street, Gloucester and Side Street Gallery, 17 Rocky Neck Ave., Gloucester, August 7-September 1.
This show features “Contemplation” artists Larry Elardo, Jill Solomon, Joe Christensen, Marty Morgan and more.
17 ROCKY NECK AVENUE There will be a Pottery Trail with stops at Ceramic Studios and Galleries around Cape Ann on the weekend of Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17 from 10 AM-5 PM.
Jeremy Randall will give a workshop demo on Saturday, August 23 from 10 AM-5 PM at Cynthia Curtis Pottery, 80 Pigeon Hill Street, Rockport, MA.
and Hideaki Miyamura will talk about his work at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck on Sunday, August 24, 5:30 PM.
Committed to the education and promotion of ceramic arts on Cape Ann, the Festival strives to bring together local talent and master craftsmen from around the globe and to highlight and encourage emerging artists through a series of exhibitions and workshops.
Set against a backdrop of sunny beaches, forested trails, stone quarries, a working waterfront, and fabulous restaurants and shops, a day of Ceramics on Cape Ann will delight and inspire.
