The Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) is celebrating its current exhibition, Stage Idols, Japanese Kabuki Theater, with a special kabuki-themed Atrium Alive. Come explore PEM's renowned Japanese art collections while taking part in an array of free activities inspired by the traditional music, dance and narration of kabuki theater, including:

-Japan's top-ranked kabuki performer, Daiki Nishikawa, leads kabuki performances with live musical accompaniment
-Film screening of The Story of the Last Chrysanthemum, by acclaimed Japanese film master, Kenji Mizoguchi
-Drop-in art activities for visitors of all ages to try on kabuki makeup and costumes, use props, and learn traditional mie (dramatic poses)
