What made America? What makes us? These two questions are at the heart of the new PBS series FACES OF AMERICA. Building on the success of his series African American Lives and African American Lives 2, Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. turns again to the latest tools of genealogy and genetics to explore the family histories of 11 renowned Americans.

Looking beyond the black experience to the wider immigrant experience, Gates follows the threads of his guests’ lives back to their earliest origins around the globe including figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, writer Malcolm Gladwell and chef Mario Batali.

WGBH will be screening the fourth episode of the upcoming mini-series before it premieres nationally on February 10 at 8 p.m. on PBS. Episode four explores the dynamic and shifting relationship America had with new immigrants in the 20th century.

Following the viewing, audience members are encouraged to engage in discussion with a panel of guests including:

- William R. Grant, executive producer of Faces of America
- Stephen Ives, producer of Episode four of Faces of America
- Dr. David Altschuler, clinical endocrinologist and human geneticist at the Broad Institute

The screening will be February 4 from 7-9 p.m. at WGBH's Yawkey Theater located at 1 Guest St. in Brighton. The event is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required. To reserve your seat, please call (617) 300-5400 or visit http://www.wgbh.org/facesscreening
