Grab your friends & family & head to Downtown New Bedford for the Community Places, Sacred Spaces AHA! Night! On this evening art, history and architecture come alive through a celebration of the houses of worship and other unique spaces of Downtown New Bedford. May is also Preservation Month, the perfect opportunity to recognize the hard work of those who protect and care for our City’s history as well as taking the opportunity to explore the built environment & how it adds to the vibrant texture of New Bedford.

Have kids? Take them on an Architectural Preservation Trolley Tour with the Waterfront Historic Area League or an Evening Neighborhood Walking Tour with the Citizen Schools Apprenticeship Program. Plus there’s the Children's Dance Ensemble of New Bedford performing 'Sea Shanty Dance', the What is the Sky? chalk mural & the Junior Ranger program at the NB Whaling National Historical Park Visitor Center. & don’t forget the Ocean Explorium home to seahorses, jelly fish & so much more!

Looking for art? There are over 15 new & continuing shows to see at our downtown galleries, studios, stores & restaurants.

Talks your thing? The NB Preservation Society will be holding it’s Elm Award Ceremony recognizing outstanding preservation & restoration projects in NB.

Love live music? Check out the ever popular Open Mic at Cafe Arpeggio. The Zeiterion Performing Art Center hosts the KeKeli African Drum & Dance Ensemble. Plus NB Symphony duos at 2 locations, the AHA! Classical Music Series at the First Unitarian Church & Music@6 at the NB Art Museum. & don’t forget AHA! After 9 which features live music at many of your fave Downtown eateries on the late night side of things.

Just want to have fun? Check out the Slide Slam featuring South End NB artists at the NB Art Museum. Stop by Navio Artisans Collective for a live art installation. Or stroll the Labyrinth at the First Unitarian Church.

& of course eat & shop to your heart's content. AHA! partner eateries are serving up Mexican, Korean, Thai, award-winning chowder, the best buffalo wings in town, sushi, tapas & so much more. Looking to get your shop on? Our Downtown boutique stores will not disappoint if you are looking for something funky, beautiful, hand-made & unique.
