Grab your friends & family & head to Downtown New Bedford for the Walking Tours AHA! Night! On this evening art, history and architecture come alive through a celebration of New Bedford’s rich history and outstanding architecture. Local experts will lead tours on cobblestone streets, waterfront docks and lesser known byways. June 10th is also the Day of Portugal’s annual celebration and the festivities stretch across Downtown!

Have kids? Take them on a Dock Walk to learn about New Bedford’s working waterfront or a walking tour of the NB Whaling National Historical Park for some intriguing history & amazing architecture. Ruth & Abby, the 19th Century Ladies, will be speaking the Language of Flowers & offering make-and-take bookmarks. & don’t forget the Ocean Explorium home to seahorses, jelly fish & so much more!

Looking for art? There are over 15 new & continuing shows to see at our downtown galleries, studios, stores & restaurants, including Taking Flight: The Birds of J.J. Audubon.

Talks your thing? Check out the Communities of New Bedford Lecture Series at the Whaling Museum or “Reading Douglass in the Age of Obama” presented by the NB Historical Society.

Love live music? Check out the ever popular Open Mic at Cafe Arpeggio this month featuring Ellie Mae & Big Bill, a lively, crowd-pleasing duo specializing in traditional acoustic blues and old time gospel music from the ‘20s and ‘30s. There will be traditional Azorean folk singing at the Whaling Museum & the Singing Whalemen from the Caribbean, the Barrouallie Whalers at the National Park Visitors Center. June marks the kick-off for Centre Street Sessions, a summer tradition featuring phenomenal local jazz music. & don’t forget AHA! After 9 which features live music at many of your fave Downtown eateries on the late night side of things.

Just want to have fun? Check out the Mill Slide Slam featuring historians & photographers at Cork Wine & Tapas. Your Theatre presents short scenes from ‘The Interview’ at the Celtic Coffee House & Judith Klein Art Gallery has basket making demos with artist Sharon Owens.

& of course eat & shop to your heart's content. AHA! partner eateries are serving up Mexican, Korean, Thai, award-winning chowder, the best buffalo wings in town, sushi, tapas & so much more. Looking to get your shop on? Our Downtown boutique stores will not disappoint if you are looking for something funky, beautiful, hand-made & unique.
