Join us for Summer Sounds AHA! Night in Downtown New Bedford. Stroll the streets and be serenaded by a sampling of musical styles including jazz, folk, traditional bag piping, Caribbean steel drums, good ol’ rock-n-roll & more.
& remember AHA! doesn’t end at 9pm! Enjoy entertainment and food at many AHA! partner restaurants after the clock strikes nine.
Got kids? Check out the Trinidadian Steel Pan music on Purchase Street, Team Builders family performing arts project in Wings Court or the funky improv of Riff Parade at Artworks! & don’t forget the Ocean Explorium--home to seahorses, jelly fish & so much more!
Looking for art? There are over 15 new & continuing shows to see at our downtown galleries, studios, stores & restaurants, including Taking Flight: The Birds of J.J. Audubon at the NB Art Musuem, Public Hanging XXI: a 21st Birthday celebration for Gallery X & Tea House at Navio Artisans Collective. Art @ 8 features “AUDUBON BIRDS FROM A LOCAL PERSPECTIVE” a lecture by naturalist, Bob Maker at the NB Art Museum & Sig Haines speaking about his new show A Return to the New England Landscape at Crowell’s Fine Art.
Talks your thing? Check out The Azores: From Whaler’s Refuge to Sailor’s Destination with Victor Pinheiro, part of the Communities of NB Lecture Series at the Whaling Museum or Audubon, Animals and Advocacy: An illustrated lecture by Janice Hodson at the Public Library.
Love live music? Check out the ever popular Open Mic at Cafe Arpeggio. Enjoy music by Bay State Winds, the clarinet quartet of the Air Force Band of Liberty, in the RJD garden. Centre Street Sessions, the summer tradition featuring phenomenal local jazz music, features Pumpkin Head Ted. Ginger Grill hosts Candida Rose. Wolf & the Jam Daddies will be bringing down the house at the Garage. Plus show tunes, the Pilgrim Praise Band, a community sing-a-long & the Z Family Jam! & don’t forget AHA! After 9 which features live music at many of your fave Downtown eateries on the late night side of things.
Just want to have fun? The Pour Farm Tavern hosts their Craft Brewery of the Month: Just Beer! (formerly Buzzards Bay Brewery) with a tasting & presentation with brewer, Harry Smith. Or check out the Island Party with featured artist Barbara Ledger at the Waterfront Grille!
