Join us for the September 9th AHA! as we celebrate the rich diversity of New Bedford’s cultures. Experience our authentic city by the sea through the arts, stories and foods of the many groups who help create the fabric of of our community.

Got kids? Check out the Polish egg decorating & food tasting at Pilgrim UCC. The National Park’s 19th Century Ladies will be sharing the stories, food and recipes of their friends and neighbors. & don’t forget the Ocean Explorium home to seahorses, jelly fish & so much more!

Looking for art? There are over 15 new & continuing shows to see at our downtown galleries, studios, stores & restaurants, including the last chance to see Taking Flight: The Birds of J.J. Audubon at the NB Art Musuem & Sample: Artists of New Bedford Open Studios at Gallery X.

Talks your thing? There’s “French Acadian Immigrants to New Bedford” with Paul Albert Cyr, Curator of Special Collections at the NB Public Library. Check out The Starting Place: a talk by Sandra Hall about the life of a family of barn swallows at the NB Art Museum. Plus artist talks at Judith Klein Art Gallery & Crowells Fine Art.

Love live music? Check out the ever popular Open Mic at Cafe Arpeggio celebrating it’s 6th Anniversary with featured performers Dancing Eyebrows. Enjoy an open rehearsal by the NB Symphony at the Zeiterion. Centre Street Sessions, the summer tradition featuring phenomenal local jazz music, features Shawnn Monteiro and the NB Jazz Quartet. Plus small sets with Aoife Clancy at Celtic Coffee House.

Just want to have fun? Celebrate the Culture of Brewing! The Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum will feature a full brewing demonstration & the Pour Farm Tavern continues its Ask the Brewer series. Your Theater presents 'A Bridge too Old': a short play focusing on the angst-love of the bridge between NB and Fairhaven at the Seamen’s Bethel. Meet Azorean whaleboat crews at Casa dos Botes. & the Salvation Army celebrates their 125th Anniversary of service to the City with a party featuring Fado singer Ana Vinagre.

& of course eat & shop to your heart's content. AHA! partner eateries are serving up Mexican, Korean, Thai, award-winning chowder, the best buffalo wings in town, sushi, tapas & so much more. Looking to get your shop on? Our Downtown boutique stores will not disappoint if you are looking for something funky, beautiful, hand-made & unique.
