Join us on the February AHA! Night for a Carnevale Celebration in Downtown New Bedford! What better way to lose your winter blues than with some merriment, shopping, good food, and local art? Give yourself a pre-Valentine’s Day pick-me-up with AHA!’s great programs, new art exhibitions, or a special treat from one of our many unique boutiques and galleries.

Got kids? Check out Clever Carnevale Kids to create & celebrate with games & crafts at the First Unitarian Church. The National Park’s 19th Century Ladies will be making masks for Mrs. Arnolds Carnevale Ball. The Park will also have music & cake to celebrate the 117th anniversary of the Schooner Ernestina’s first launch.

Love Life Lens Photography presents a Valentines Day craft at the NB Library. & don’t forget the Ocean Explorium home to seahorses, jelly fish & tonight carnevale mask-making & bead-stringing!

Looking for art? There are over 10 NEW shows to see at our downtown galleries, studios, stores & restaurants. Check out openings for the David Loeffler Smith Retrospective at NBAM, Tides of Change at the NB Whaling Museum & 'Joseph Alexander: Discover the Unseen' at Navio Artisans Collective. UMass Dartmouth has the exhibit Exquisite & a lecture by artist Allison Paschke. Rose Alley hosts the very popular traveling exhibit “Eye on the Orpheum”: photos of the Orpheum Theater. The Green Bean has new art on the wall by Tom Catz plus treats by Starbird Bakery & Catering.

Talks your thing? Oil spill response planner Ben Bryant talks about his experience with this summer’s BP spill & compares that with the 2003 Buzzards Bay spill. The Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum offers the first in a four part series focusing on New England port cities in the 19th & 20th centuries. NB Whaling Museum President, James Russell, will give a talk about his native Ireland with a focus on the AHA! moments of early Irish art, history & architecture.

Love live music? Check out the ever popular Open Mic at Cafe Arpeggio. February’s Featured Performer is Fourteen Strings. The Bartleby Scrivener Poets Society hosts a night of poetry & music at Pilgrim UCC. Plus there’s plenty of entertainment at AHA! partner restaurants throughout the evening including DJ Colin Whatever spinning songs at the Pour Farm Tavern & Chris Evil, Mike Almond & Greg Faris at No Problemo.

Just want to have fun? Join the Party on Purchase Street featuring fire performers, the AHA! Photo Booth & the Carnevale Cabaret. Crowell’s Fine Art hosts custom carnevale mask making using repurposed & recycled materials. & just in time for Valentines Day---Calico presents a Valentines Craft-o-Rama featuring the best in locally hand-made goods & Love Life Lens Photography offers Boudoir photo sessions.

& of course eat & shop to your heart's content. AHA! partner eateries are serving up Mexican, Korean, Thai, award-winning chowder, the best buffalo wings in town, sushi, tapas & so much more. Looking to get your shop on? Our Downtown boutique stores will not disappoint if you are looking for something funky, beautiful, hand-made & unique.
