Got kids? The Marion Institute and Connecting for Change will be making seed bombs in Wing’s Court. Create, dance & explore with Flower Power at Custom House Square. Check out the flower themed hands-on crafts at the NB Art Museum or the Sea Shanty story performance at the NB Whaling Museum. & don’t forget the Ocean Explorium home to seahorses, jelly fish & Coming Soon sharks & rays!
Looking for art? This month we celebrate student art: the NB Public Schools District-Wide Art Show features over 2500 pieces of art, Webster Bank hosts the SouthCoast High School Artist’s Pop-Up Gallery & the Fairfield Inn hosts the UMass Dartmouth Senior Illustration Exhibition. Plus, there are over 15 new & continuing shows to see at our downtown galleries, studios, stores & restaurants including Word Up! at Gallery X, Always in Bloom at the Green Bean & the Recent Works of Clayton Lewis at Crowell’s Fine Art.
Talks & films your thing? Stop by the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park where the the 19th Century Ladies will be chatting about ‘the language of flowers’. Check out Art@8 with Peggi Medeiros & Father & Son: The Legacy of Jacob Getlar Smith at the NB Art Museum. The RJD presents the 4th lecture in their Port Cities of New England series. Plus, Filming the 'New Faces of UMass Dartmouth' at the Ocean Explorium.
Love live music? Check out the ever popular Open Mic at Cafe Arpeggio with this evenings Featured Performers Andy & Judy. Enjoy an ensemble performance by the students of Tom Short at Gallery X. The Zeiterion Theatre hosts an open rehearsal of the NB Symphony Orchestra. Plus there’s plenty of entertainment at AHA! partner restaurants throughout the evening including DJ Colin Whatever spinning songs at the Pour Farm Tavern & Evil, Almond & Faris at No Problemo.
Just want to have fun? The Garage presents “Frock”: new works by Jennifer Avery, live music with the gypsy punk stylings of the Wolf Hongos & a belly dance performance by Sarasvati. Stop by the NB Whaling National Historical Park for “What Style is It?”: an overview of NB architectural styles with W.H.A.L.E. Check out a table reading of The Activist by Your Theatre at the NB Whaling Museum. Plus, the grand opening of the Ugly Gallery featuring the exhibit Paradigm Shift: Cultured Street Culture.
