The critically-acclaimed Chameleon Arts Ensemble opens its 2011-2012 season with reverence, light, and three genuine chamber music blockbusters: Christopher Rouse's Compline for flute, clarinet, harp & string quartet is a luminous tribute to Rome, filled with the sound of the great city's bells.

Samuel Barber's rarely-heard, gorgeous Hermit Songs for mezzo-soprano and piano are setting of the private reflections of Medieval Irish monks who speak in surprisingly modern terms about their lives. Finally the “Archduke” is undeniably the crowning masterpiece of Beethoven's piano trios.
