Come to the Vilna Shul and explore the richness of global Jewish life with an in-depth look at the Jewish communities of India and the groundbreaking work of the Gabriel Project, Mumbai.
Founded in 2011 by Jacob Sztokman, a former sales and marketing manager from Melbourne, Australia, the Gabriel Project works to inspire the worldwide Jewish community to take action in the slums of India.
At the core of Jacob’s work are young Jews from around the world who dedicate their time to teaching literacy and providing nutrition for children living in Mumbai.
Jacob’s work is a stunning example of someone who combines a Jewish ethos with the Jewish historical experience and uses it to motivate others to lift people out of the bondage that is poverty.
Jacob will spend an evening at the Shul sharing his experiences living and working in India, including a beautiful slideshow of its landscapes and community life.
Following Jacob's presentation, please join us for food, drink an entertainment in our historic sanctuary.
This event is open to the public, but registration is appreciated.
