Mask Making
Fall 2013 Session: October 4, 11, 18, 25, November 1, 8, 15, 22
Explore media such as papier mache, clay and cloth to create a sculptural mask.
We will look at mask-making traditions around the world and how masks can create a sense of identity for the wearer.
Participants will have a chance to display their masks in our Community Colors Gallery exhibition, opening November 12.
Printmaking Sampler
Winter 2014 Session: January 10, 17, 24, 31 February 7, 14, 28 March 7
In this class we will try experiment with a variety of printmaking techniques including monoprint, drypoint etching, collagraph and silkscreen.
Come learn new techniques to expand your art skills beyond drawing.
Printmaking creates multiple copies of an image, giving you endless opportunities for experimentation and sharing your work!
Public and Social Art
Spring 2014 Session – March 28, April 4, 11 May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
In this class we will explore what happens when art is made or displayed in public spaces.
We will meet local muralists, take a walking tour of public artworks in the South End, and create collaborative pieces to investigate art as a tool for learning about and interacting with the community.
In this session we will use a variety of media, from drawing and sculpting to photography and digital processes.
