When is Sunday School not Sunday? -- For All Saints, the answer is Wednesday.

Belmont’s episcopal church is offering an innovative afterschool activity, “Wonder Wednesdays”, founded on Godly Play, a child-centered program based on Montessori principles that encourages children to develop their natural spirituality through stories, imagination and creative play.

Led by Godly Play expert Cheryl Minor, this class is scheduled for early dismissal Wednesdays, 2-4 pm.

No church membership or affiliation is needed.

Inspiration for the afterschool program came as the Reverend Minor, All Saints co-rector, realized that families were busy Sundays with sports and other extracurricular activities, but still hungered to nurture their children’s spirituality.

For over forty years, Godly Play (www.godlyplayfoundation.org) has engaged children worldwide to deepen the meaning of their lives and faith.

Through Christian parables, sacred stories, silence, and actions, children grow more aware of the mystery of God’s presence.

All Saints’ is designated as a Godly Play Center of Excellence by the Godly Play Foundation.

The church is known throughout the region for its beautiful classrooms and often hosts visitors and training events.

The Reverend Cheryl Minor, PhD, has traveled across the United States and internationally to teach, consult, and train others in the Godly Play method.
