The installation explores the possibilities of awakening memory through non-representational art forms that alternate between conscious and unconscious perception.
Participants move before scent alters, designed specially for the oPhone by Rachel Field, and sound installations that act as windows to processes of historical, personal, and social memory, and introduce realms of concrete material realities and virtual, historical myths.
These scent compositions in the exhibition, all created originally by Christophe Laudamiel, are designed to provoke memories and emotional reactions.
The scent of Silence is a particularly important scent of the exhibition and will be available to exhibition goers in the form of a scent bracelet, or oBracelet, containing the oNote of Silence.
The Memory exhibition, as well as the oPlatform, is an artistic and technological response to the growing fascination of science around the importance of scent to human health and the mind, including circumstances of stress/relaxation, hunger/satiation, fear/tranquility, and memory loss.
