The program includes a number of high-energy works from traditional patriotic and pops concert band repertoire.
Concert-goers will hear marches, polkas, big band World War II favorites, and some surprises!
Musical Director O’Toole and Assistant Conductor Bob Rick hope to leave the audience tapping its toes and wishing for more!
In keeping with its mission: to celebrate art and culture while bringing the Waltham area community together, Arts Council President Everett Erwin has invited the local veterans and military community to gather to celebrate National Night Out.
He hopes families, veterans, military, and the community will attend to highlight our proud military history of service in the Waltham area.
A wide variety of veterans and military/family organizations are expected to attend, and will wear clothing or caps showing support of their unit.
These Waltham area veterans groups include the American Ex-Prisoners of War, American Legion (with Auxiliary, Sons, and Riders), AmVets, Blue Star Families, Disabled American Veterans, Gold Star Families, Korean War Veterans, Marine Corps League, Military Friends Foundation, Military Order of the Purple Heart, National Guard Association, U.S.
Armed Forces Recruiters, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary, and Vietnam Veterans of America.
Invited (but not confirmed) dignitaries include Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, Massachusetts Lt.
Governor Karyn Polito, Massachusetts Department of Veterans Services Secretary Francisco Urena, Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy, and Waltham Veterans Service Officer Mike Russo.
There is no cost to attend the Concert on the Common series on Waltham Common.
