Over the past 14 years, the annual Boston Tattoo Convention has defined itself as the place to be for the best in tattoos and tattoo culture.
World class artists combine with the best in music and performance that Boston has to offer, all situated right in the heart of the city.
Whether you are looking for a fun way to spend your weekend or your next one of a kind tattoo, the Boston Tattoo Convention offers something for everyone.
So just what does a person do at a tattoo convention?
Well, the most obvious answer is get tattooed.
Tattoo conventions bring together artists from around the world, letting attendees discover new artists and find the perfect style for their next tattoo.
But the convention also has a lot to offer those that aren’t ready to go under the needle.
Each day there is a full line-up of performers and events.
Most notably the Ms. Boston Ink Competition where contestants compete for the title by flashing ink, charm and some serious sex appeal.
When attendees asked for a male version of the competition, the Mr. Boston Ink Contest was created, now in its second year.
Add to this daily tattoo competitions and this year’s new facial hair competition sponsored by the Boston Beard Bureau.
Showcasing local talent, the horror burlesque troupe The Slaughterhouse Sweethearts who claim to “entertain the deranged” bring bizarre and beautiful dance performance to the main stage each day.
Also, catch Dr. Bones Circus of Marvels, for contortionist acts and Houdini esque antics reminiscent of old time freak shows.
Convention producer Natan Alexander shared that his favorite part of the convention is the community created between people who appreciate tattoos.
“People come to the convention from all walks of life, all ages and interests.
But what they all have in common is the love of tattoos and that forms of common bond.
I love seeing people relating over their ink.”
The 14th Annual Boston Tattoo Convention will be held August 21st - 23rd at the Boston Sheraton.
