Clennon L. King, an award-winning, Emmy-nominated filmmaker and journalist will present his documentary film Passage at St. Augustine detailing the violent 1964 civil rights conflict in St.
Augustine, Florida that leveraged passage of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964.
This free program includes a reception, film screening, and panel discussion.
Callie Crossley, veteran WGBH journalist and current host of “Under the Radar with Callie Crossley” will moderate the panel discussion following the film.
Along with King, panelists will include local civil rights leaders and participants in the historic 1964 movement such as Ted Mascott, former WGBH radio reporter who was arrested and charged with inciting a riot and jailed during the St.
Augustine movement; Mimi Jones, a Roxbury resident and civil rights foot soldier who was on the front lines; and Rabbi Israel “Si” Dresner, one of the 16 rabbis who was jailed in the St.
Augustine movement.
Brock Satter, organizer for the Boston-based Mass Action Against Police Brutality, will also sit on the panel.
Schedule of Events
The screening and panel discussion will begin at 6:15pm in the Tower Auditorium following a 5:30pm reception in the Tower building lobby.
