About the show:
Sharrel created “EarthScapes” after a road trip out to the Berkshires in Massachusetts.
Having always loved the gentle hills of New England, she wanted to create a theme throughout her pots that reflected that.
The carved lines represent those hills and valleys.
The glazes that she chose to use all have an 'earthy' undertone: blue for the sky, green for the lush leaves, gray for the granite stone, and a vibrant brown for the soil.
Her hope is to create a sense of calm and connectivity back to nature with both the ceramics as well as the cozy crocheted pieces.
From the artist:
'I was born and raised here in Massachusetts, but lived and loved for a bit in California.
I moved back to Boston in 2013 when I was faced with a cancer battle.
While going through treatment, I started in a ceramics class as a way of escaping the medical stress.
Little did I know that I would turn my new love for clay and my old love of crochet into a small business.
Currently, I have a successful Etsy shop and Instagram feed and participate at local markets as well as the bi-annual pottery sale and show at Feet of Clay Pottery in Brookline.'
