Lexington Historical Society played an instrumental role in persuading the Massachusetts Legislature to proclaim Patriots’ Day an official Massachusetts holiday in 1894.
Since 1969, this day has been observed on the third Monday in April.
Events and reenactments occur all weekend long in Lexington and surrounding communities and along the historic battle road in the Minute Man National Park.
