DROP-IN ART MAKING - Expand Our Neural Network

Optical Illusions

Can you believe your eyes? Design and draw optical illusions and discover how the brain can sometimes get confused about what the eye is seeing.
Communicate Like a Neuron
11 am–3 pm | Studio 1, Create Space
How do neurons send messages around your body? Join neuroscientist Darcy Moore and get interactive with neurotransmitters. Create your own story and learn how your nervous system responds to events with different chemical communicators.
DEMONSTRATION - Meet a Museum Neuroscientist
Noon–1 pm | Atrium
Meet Dr. Tedi Asher, PEM’s own neuroscientist, and learn about her work here at the museum. Explore the biometric tools she uses to research how visitors interact with art in the museum. Want a deeper dive? Sign up for one of Tedi’s afternoon gallery experiences!
GALLERY EXPERIENCE - Be a Museum Neuroscientist
1–2 pm, 2–3 pm and 3–4 pm | Meet in the Atrium
**Space very limited. Advance registration required at neuroscience@pem.org
Join Dr. Tedi Asher’s team and be a museum neuroscientist for a day. Each hour, one young neuroscientist (recommended for ages 8 and up) and one volunteer research subject (a parent or caregiver) explore the Japanomania! Japanese Art Goes Global gallery with biometric sensing equipment.
DROP-IN WORKSHOP - Poetry in Rhythm
