Icons from the Prosopon School of Iconography.
The Prosopon style is characterized by layered glazes of tempera paint to build up the luminescent surface of the icons.
They are created entirely in the traditional manner, rich in color and delicate in treatment.
Also in the gallery is a collection of Zhostovo painted trays and objects, with examples of factory and exhibition trays demonstrating the breadth of the Zhostovo art form.
These traditional trays were painted in oils with mostly floral designs and dried in ovens to save time.
