The evening highlights and features the art, language and culture of the community featuring American Sign Language tours, performances, art-making activities and more.
The event begins at 5 pm with a $5 minimum, pay-what-you-wish general admission (available in person day of, starting at 5 pm) and $5 minimum, pay-what-you-wish admission to Hokusai: Inspiration and Influence (advance Hokusai tickets available online now).
Events and Activities:
Drop-In Art Making: Photo Collage
5–9pm
Visitors can have their pictures taken, then use patterned paper, drawing materials, and mixed media to transform it into a photo collage inspired by Behind Blue Eyes, an artwork in the exhibition Who Holds Up the Sky? that highlights children’s perspectives on the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Resource Fair
5–9pm
Representatives from Deaf Inc, the MFA, and elsewhere will be on hand to provide resources and programs they offer.
DEAFinitely Dance
5:30 and 6:30pm
Young dancers perform dance combinations merging ASL, hip-hop, b-boy and breakdancing.
Spotlights on Art
6 and 8 pm
Deaf tour guides explore works of art from the Museum’s collection.
Steve the Magician
7 pm
Boston-area favorite Steve Weiner performs magic tricks. Suitable for all ages.
All programs are presented in either American Sign Language (ASL) with voice interpretation or English with ASL interpretation.
