“Recipes for Racial Justice” is a project led by duo Adobo-Fish-Sauce (Anthony Febo and Ricky Orng) in collaboration with I Learn America and in partnership with youth from Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Boston International Newcomers Academy.
The artists conducted virtual workshops with the “poet-chefs” to help them create their own recipes that communicate their cultural identity through food and spoken word.
On Saturday, September 4, the project will culminate with “In The Park,” a public food and spoken word event, hosted and catered by Haley House, that invites guests to follow the poet-chefs’ recipes and participate in an intimate open mic night.
This event is part of the Radical Imagination for Racial Justice program, a collaboration between Massachusetts College of Art and Design and the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture.
