Dancers will perform two Lion Dances at 1:00pm & 2:15pm, followed by origami instruction & face painting near the Visitor Center.
Lion Dance is a traditional Asian performance art dating back more than 1,000 years!
A Chinese and Vietnamese custom, the Lion Dance is believed to bring good luck, prosperity, and peace to the Lunar New Year, weddings, birthdays, and other celebratory events.
The Worcester Youth Nian Dancers (WYND) was created by the Southeast Asian Coalition of Central Massachusetts (SEACMA) in 2009 as a way to channel young people’s abundant energy into something cultural, healthy, and positive.
Starting with developing a presence on YouTube and strong willpower, the team has grown to be one of the most recognized Lion Dance teams in Greater Boston.
