Artist Michael Eder lives and raised his two sons, Simon and Jamie, in Milton with his wife Fleeka Eder.
Michael Eder creates abstract emotional and expressionistic landscapes.
His recent paintings, inspired by the Neponset River, explore how the river looks and moves and also examines how the history of communities around the river have been impacted.
Michael has had numerous exhibitions, most recently at the HallSpace gallery in Dorchester.
He works and exhibits from the South Boston Studios along with his sister, Claire Eder and his mother, Esther Garcia Eder, both from Cambridge, MA.
Their brother, Luke Eder is a photographer in Portland, ME.
These artists have had numerous exhibits of their work, but never before have they shown together as a family.
Spanning two generations these four artists bear the same name, the same childhood memories, and the same particular history.
As a family the Eder’s lived in Colombia, Spain, Yugoslavia, England, France, New York, DC and the Boston area.
It was not until the Eder family stopped traveling and living together that they each started their own respective work as artists.
Though distanced there remains strong ties between Claire Eder, Michael Eder, Luke Eder and Esther Garcia Eder's work.
Their works all commune with land, natural phenomena and its forms.
Their approaches are transformative but at their core radiate awe towards nature, a delight in color and a shared pursuit of beauty.
