Join the City of Worcester on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 for the inaugural celebration of new Worcester Poet Laureate Oliver de la Paz!

A reputable poet and renowned educator, de la Paz is the author of several poetry collections, including Requiem for the Orchard (2010), Furious Lullaby (2007), and The Boy in the Labyrinth (2019).

This free event welcomes the public to meet the Poets Laureate on the 1st floor of the Worcester Public Library at 3 Salem Street, Worcester MA.

The ceremony will include readings by de la Paz, Youth Poet Laureate Adael Mejia, former Poet Laureate Juan Matos (2020-2022), and former Youth Poet Laureate Amina Mohammed.

Additional speakers include Jason Homer (Executive Director of the Worcester Public Library) and Mayor Joseph M. Petty, who will present de la Paz with a ceremonial medal created by local metalsmith Pam Farren.
