ArtsNashoba, the Nashoba Valley’s regional arts center for youth continues it’s 2015-16 season with the musical spin on Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘Ugly Duckling,” HONK!

With book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe and music by George Stiles, this production will be directed by JulieAnn Govang, with musical direction by Nick D’Amico and choreography by Sharon Bisantz.

Auditions are scheduled for January 26, 27 and 28, 2016 from 4-6pm and will consist of prepared vocals, some movement, and readings from the script.

If a musical piece is not prepared in advance, all auditioners will be learning music from the show as part of the afternoon. Production weekend is April 1 and 2. The Autism/Special Needs performance will be held March 31, all shows at the Richardson-Mees Performing Arts Center at Lawrence Academy in Groton.

Honk! has winged its way around the world in over 8000 productions and in many different languages. Winner of multiple awards, including the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical, this heart-warming celebration of being different is sure to delight audiences of all ages with its sparkling wit and memorable score.

Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on adventure of self discovery all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat.

Along the way Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.
