The fun spills out from all corners of the club: bubble machines, baskets of scarves and egg-shakers, a chill-out room (with tents, books and puzzles), diaper changing stations, a full spread of healthy snacks and dancing, LOTS of dancing.
Baby loves disco is a community event that brings kids together with kids and parents together with parents. Started by professional dancer (and professional mom) Heather Murphy, the idea was to create an alternative to the pre-packaged world of entertainment for young kids.

Loved It
I recently attended the Baby Loves Disco Event in Boston and my family/friends and I loved it. I have read the recent review below about the doors not opening until 2:15 but I remember a very friendly Baby Loves Disco Staff Person (not regular bar staff) coming to the door right at 2:00 to start letting people in. There was a long line that started before 2 but I think that waiting in the line accounts for the delay not the doors opening late. I also wanted to say the BLD staff person was very kind to let me in before my whole party was there. She mentioned that I would need to wait until my whole party was there but after waiting for 5 minutes or so she took down my husband's name and let us in because she recognized my child was getting a little chilly. I did find the music to be a little bit loud but not excessivly so. I also recognize that there were more glass beer bottles and what not left around than I would like but I think that complaint should fall on the parents drinking...put your own bottles on the counter when you are down with them. Overall, I am very impressed with BLD and I can't wait to attend another event with more of my family. Has Gone Downhill
We brought our toddler to the April event and had a great time. We were excited to come back to the Sept. 30 event, but we were completely let down. They sold too many tickets, the music was too loud, and parents were pushing each other to get to the dance floor for the dance contest. Overall, this event has gone downhill. Waste of money and time. To the people that run this- you started off strong, but this event is now too crowded and employees lack the enthusiasm they once had. Disappointed
My husband and I took our three year old daughter (and 5 month old daughter) to baby loves disco in Boston. We were very disappointed. We arrived 10 minutes early and the staff was not happy about that. They kept coming outside and telling us and other families to move out to the street and wait. They would not let us stand in their doorway where we could be protected from the cold wind. It was very cold and the children were freezing. It was just before Halloween so the kids were dressed in their costumes. They were supposed to open the doors at 2:00pm but didn't until 2:15 which seemed like a lifetime holding 2 cold children. The staff were the regular bar/club employees who lacked any enthusiasm for these children coming to have fun and dance. It was very obvious they did not have children of their own and were not 'family friendly'. I think the price for this event is too high for what you get. Also, the music was spun by a dj and it was SO incredibly loud, we had to find a corner far away from the dance floor to dance so we didn't risk damaging their ears. If a club wants to open it's doors on a Sunday to welcome families with small children, they need to really get their act together. I would not recommend this activity - atl east not for under 4 or 5 that maybe can tolerate very loud music. No Place For Kids
I went there expecting a nice atmosphere to dance with my daughter and have fun with other moms. Instead I found a place where the music is unbearably loud (I dare say unsafe for little ears) and some adults were drinking heavily. I saw babies sucking on their fathers beer bottles and empty glasses left on tables for little hands to grab, break or god forbid drink the reminants. The bathrooms were filthy after 2 hours. While I do drink in front of my kids, this was not a good environment for kids.Baby Loves Disco -- May Event
I was so excited to attend Baby Loves Disco but left underwhelmed and disappointed. Please be very careful letting little ones crawl around in the 'playzone'; my husband and I found several pieces of glass on the floor. Safety aside, I didn't think the value was there at $12 per person. The DJ didn't get started for quite some time....there were a lot of people standing around wondering when the party was going to get going. Baby Likes Disco
This event had promise but never got off the ground. After a half -hour of monotonous club tracks, my daughter wondered if they'd ever play a different song! The food was plentiful, but the music fell short until the very end when everyone was leaving. More structure, games, and a human voice from the DJ booth would have helped. Maybe even a few beach balls to toss around.
I must say the staff was VERY kind. It's a great idea that needs a little less club and a little more Gymboree.
Also, you'll need cash for the massage and waxing ladies -- they're working for tips only.RELATED LINKS | ↑ top |
