2012 Children’s Hospital Boston Battle of the Bands
Children’s Hospital Boston is looking for the best high schools bands to compete in the 2012 Battle of the Bands fundraising event. The 2012 Children’s Hospital Boston Battle of the Bands will feature student bands who want to use the power of music to help sick children get better.
Student bands made up of at least two people are encouraged to sign up, fundraise and rock out to see who will come out on top and compete for a chance to perform at a live Battle of the Bands held at Hard Rock Boston on February 12, 2012.
To sign up, each band must visit www.generationcures.org/battle. Each band will submit an original song with a positive or “make it better” theme and then set up an online fundraising page. To be eligible to compete in the competition, each band must commit to raising a minimum of $500 dollars by December 22, 2011.
Beginning on January 4 and continuing through January 18, 2012, fans can cast a vote for the best band online at www.generationcures.org/battle. The top eight bands, as determined by fan votes, will rock and roll in a battle-style competition at Hard Rock Boston. The winning band will receive prizes that include studio recording time, a professional photography session, performance opportunities and much more.
In addition to the winning band being selected at Hard Rock Boston, additional prizes will be awarded to runner-up, 3rd place finisher and the band that raises the most money for Children’s Hospital Boston.
Win a Recording Session
As a special incentive, every band that registers for the Children’s Hospital Boston Battle of the Bands and submits a song prior to October 5 will be eligible to win a recording session on the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus.
The bus, which will be located at Children’s Hospital Boston on October 9, is a state-of-the-art mobile recording studio and HD production facility that travels the country providing students with hands on multimedia experiences including learning how to write, perform, record, and produce an original song and music video.
The band selected will spend that day on the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus with the on-board engineers writing a theme song and creating a music video for Generation Cures. The grand prize winner of the battle will also win a “Lennon Bus Live” session on the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus in 2012.
The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is made possible by an agreement with Yoko Ono Lennon.
The 2012 Children’s Hospital Boston Battle of the Bands is part of Generation Cures, a philanthropic movement based at Children’s Hospital Boston that teaches teens and families about the power of giving and science through online and community fundraising, digital media, music and more. Inspiration evolves into action as teens mobilize their community to help raise funds for research at Children’s Hospital.
