From February 21 through 25, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) encourages families to get out of the house and celebrate School Vacation Week with five days of fun, including activities for children to discover, create and be inspired by great art.

Kids and their families are invited to meet live falcons, owls, and hawks and make their own sketches of these magnificent birds of prey in conjunction with Pursuits of Power: Falconry and the Samurai: 1600–1900. Try on a hoop skirt and corset, and create top hats and bonnets based on High Style and Hoop Skirts: 1850s Fashion; and learn to write and decipher ancient script, including Egyptian hieroglyphics and Mayan symbols.

The MFA’s School Vacation Week activities, which run daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., are free for children 17 and under with paid adult admission.
