The Central branch of the Boston Public Library inivites you the opening of the Literacise interactive exhibit outside the Rey Room on the 1st Floor of the Johnson Building,

The Literacise exhibit has tunnels to explore and secrets to find, and children canl zig-zag, bunny-hop, and giant-step their way through a kid-sized interactive book.

The event will feature a fashion show, costumed character parade, a ribbon cutting, refreshments, and a speaking program that includes Author Irene Smalls and Mayor Thomas M. Menino. The exhibit will be in the Central Library through March 2010.

Current research in the field of cognitive development shows that children often learn better when their bodies are in motion. With childhood obesity rates on the rise in Boston, Literacise will get families up and moving and will teach parents about the important connection between physical activity and learning.
