Escape the heat and bring the entire family to spend a summer evening with award-winning photojournalist Ethan Daniels, author and photographer of Under Cape Cod Waters, at the Boston Public Library.
Trained as a marine biologist, Daniels now guides diving trips around the world, shooting underwater locations as exotic as Belize, Palau, and Micronesia. However it is Cape Cod, where he spent summers as a boy, that he chose as the subject of his first book-length collection.
Take a virtual dive with Daniels as he enlightens and educates about the treasures hidden amidst each of the Cape’s aquatic ecosystems—the salt marsh, bay, open ocean, and freshwater ponds.
With Cape Cod’s recurring headlines of climate change, sharks, fisheries management, and Cape Wind, Under Cape Cod Waters offers a timely and unique chance for the future generation to meet the species that could potentially be affected by human action—or inaction.
After your family is sufficiently cooled down from all that underwater photography, take the whole gang to nearby Newbury Street, which has ice cream that might just rival the best on the Cape.
