Paula Fredriksen's provocative book, Augustine and the Jews – A Christian Defense of Jews and Judaism, traces the social and intellectual forces that led to the development of Christian anti-Judaism and shows how and why Augustine challenged this toxic tradition.

The book traces a tangled history while relating the story of one man's astonishing and unique response to it.

Fredriksen, a professor in the Department of Religion at Boston University, discusses her book at the Vilna Shul (18 Phillips Street) in Boston on Sunday, November 13 at 11am, as part of the JCC’s of Greater Boston Ryna Greenbaum Boston Jewish Book Fair. Cost is $10. Parking is $5 at Charles River Plaza (165 Cambridge Street). Two block walk to the Shul. Co-sponsored by Vilna Shul. Purchase tickets by contacting boxoffice@jccgb.org, 617-965-5226 or 866-811-4111, or go to jccgb.org/bookfair.
