You may not have many fond memories of this past Red Sox season, but certainly still love Fenway Park.
Join Richard Johnson, Boston Sports Museum Curator, as he talks about his recent book, Field of Our Fathers, An Illustrated History of Fenway Park, 1912-2012 at the Spellman Museum of Stamps & Postal History at Regis College in Weston.
The talk begins at 7:00 on Wednesday, Oct. 24 and people wearing a Red Sox hat or shirt will get a discount on admission. Teachers and students are admitted free.
Historian, writer, and collector, Richard Johnson took over a year and a half, and forty years of passion and Fenway trips to create this ultimate collector's piece.
One hundred years worth of ticket stubs, historical tidbits and playbills make this volume great.
The definitive, illustrated history of Fenway Park, this comprehensive volume captures the momentous occasions of America's most beloved ballpark.
Featuring posters, ticket stubs, and fan memorabilia, this history contains firsthand accounts of the many baseball and nonbaseball events that have helped characterize the park since the days of Tris Speaker and Babe Ruth. The book celebrates the teams, the fans, and the quirks of Fenway Park for its centennial in 2012.
On display will be the Fenway Park U.S. Postage stamp issued in 2001.
The Museum’s gift shop will be open and U.S. post office also still has available the recent Ted Williams commemorative stamp for sale at face value.
Copies of Johnson’s book will be available for purchase. For more information call 781-768-8367 or info@spellman.org or www.spellman.org.
